Darke County Sampler Block 5

Block 5
Pets

This month you get a cat and a chicken.
Georgann made two 9" finished blocks
but you can do them as one 9" x 18" finished rectangle.

Cats and dogs and other barnyard animals are not too
common on these Ohio samplers but it is always fun to find one.

Cats on quilts sometimes sit on their tails

"Old Tom" from the Peter Shank quilt in Sue Cummings's book

This top in the Quilt Complex collection
has two cats and a bird.
You often see butterflies too.

It's a peaceable kingdom.

Julie Craig of Wichita

Crazy Quilts

"A day without stitching is like a day without breathing," says Julie Craig, owner of Attic Heirlooms, a needle art embellishment shop, in Wichita. Julie has a knack for creating inspiring designs using fabrics like rich velvets, over-dyed silk embroidery thread, and finely-crafted glass beads. She teaches all over the country and has been a featured artist in national magazines."
