Quilt Shows on Final Four Weekend

This week promises to be a quilter's delight in the Greater Kansas City Area.
First: Our Kaw Valley Quilt Guild Annual Show:
The theme:

Over the Rainbow

Bring your quilts in on Friday afternoon April 4th.

The show will be open: 
Saturday, April 5 - 10 to 5
 Sunday, April 6 – Noon to 5 

       The Place:
Crown Toyota, 3430 Iowa, Lawrence, Kansas
$5 admission

         

Our Featured Quilter is Roseanne Smith who specializes in
star quilts. She'll  also be doing a trunk show of her quilts, talking
about the efficient techniques she uses and what can go wrong.
Talks are at 2:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

In Kansas City (40 miles east of Lawrence):
The Kansas City Modern Quilt Guild is hosting

 The KCMQG Showcase at The Star



An exhibit of 80 quilts made by KCMQG members will be up for the first part of the weekend. The free event is being held at The Kansas City Star Press Pavilion at 16th & Magee Streets in Kansas City, Missouri.

Vintage Log Cabins in Fort Scott

Kansas, Fort Scott
The Fort Scott National Historic Site in Fort Scott, Kansas will have a short quilt exhibit in the Grand Hall. Voices From the Quilts travels from the International Quilt Study Center and Museum In Lincoln, Nebraska. The show includes six vintage Log Cabins and the reproduction of their Reconciliation Quilt shown above, made in 1995 by Hortense Beck.

Limited hours:
11 am to 3 pm, March 28 - 30, April 4 - 6 and upon request during the week. Call 620-223-0310.
